Middletown is a passenger railway station on New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, located in Middletown Township, New Jersey. Middletown was the twenty-third busiest station in the entire New Jersey Transit rail system and the second busiest station on the North Jersey Coast Line (after the split from the Northeast Corridor Line), with an average of 1,881 passenger boardings daily.[1] The station is made up of two high-level platforms and two tracks. The platforms often become very crowded with commuters in the morning rush-hour.
The old Middletown station is directly to the north of the current platform and was active until high level boarding and electrified service began in 1988.
